SITUATION ANALYSIS OF WOMEN IN IRAN 10 YEARS AFTER BEIJING

Our objective of compiling an alternative non-governmental report based on the critical areas of concern as stated in Beijing Platform for Action is while using an international instrument, to present a national analysis of women’s situation in Iran, their achievements and challenges.

Did the Beijing Platform for Action Accelerate Progress? Dutch Beijing +10 NGO report

In March 2005 the un Commission on the Status of Women will evaluate the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action, adopted by 189 un members in 1995, including the results booked since conclusions were drawn at the 2000 ses-sion (Beijing +5). In the Netherlands, the official second implementation report was sent to Parliament early September 2004. This shadow report was commissioned by the ngo Initiative Beijing +10 The Netherlands, Time for Action! (Initiatiefgroep Beijing +10 Nederland, Tijd voor Actie!).

MONGOLIA NGO REPORT FOR ASIA-PACIFIC NGO FORUM ON BEIJING+10

The United Nations has convened four world conferences on women between 1975-1995.Each Conference focused on negotiating a global policy document: a Plan of Action (1975), a Program ofAction (1980), the Nairobi Forward –Looking Strategies (1985) and the Beijing Platform for Action(1995). There were non-governmental forums in parallel where women of the world gathered together todiscuss issues of common concern, to debate directions and to forge new alliances.

The South Asia Beijing +10 NGO Consultation brought together over 160 women from the region to share their achievements and challenges over the last 10 years, and to identify emerging issues and future actions. We have prioritized issues of concern as follows:
