[APWW-Meet] UN Women's Radio Program
Welcome to the APWW-Meet
An announcement list of the Asia Pacific Women Watch network
working for the advancement of the status of women.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear all,=20
Thank you for your messages expressing concern regarding the
cancellation or reduction of air time of the programme "Women" on UN
radio. In many developing countries, this programme remains to be the
only source of information on the United Nations and it's work for, by
and with women around the world. If you want "Women" to stay on the air
and --if possible even increase airtime and outreach to women's
organizations, national and community radio stations, please inform
Diane Bailey, Chief of the English Language Unit at UN Radio about the
value of the programme to your organizations and women in your
communities.=20
Kind regards,=20

The English Unit of UN Radio would like to thank everyone who has taken
the time to write or call asking that the weekly Women's radio programme
not be cancelled. Please note that there has been no decision made to
discontinue the programme, only a suggestion to do so in response to
staff movements. There is also a criticism that there are too few
stations airing the programme, and therefore there is no need to
continue it.=20
We would, therefore, appreciate it if you could tell us how you are
receiving the programme (Internet, satellite radio,local broadcaster,
etc), your location and the time when it is broadcast. We are also
seeking feedback to improve both the content, style and delivery method.
If possible, please help us by alerting us to college, community and
other radio stations that would be interested in receiving WOMEN.=20
We will pass on your message in our efforts to continue to produce
WOMEN.=20
