The following invitation is from Sathi on their workshop at the High Level 
Meeting.


ESCAP High-Level Meeting: Bangkok : 7-10 September 2004
Invitation to  NGO Workshop on Women and Land Rights : 8 September and its 
preparatory meet on 7 September

The Beijing Plus Ten process is under way. Inter-governmental meetings are 
open for NGO workers, consultants and for concerned citizens.  NGOs are 
going to Bangkok are convening workshops and side events on various 
critical issues to utilize the opportunity provided by UN Beijing + 10 
review during the UNESCAP meeting to be held between 7 to 10 September in 
Bangkok.

  We cordially invite your participation for a  side-event on 'Women and 
Land Rights'.

The issue affects millions of women in our region, and must be raised in 
the ESCAP deliberations. We seek the collective strength of all us present 
at Bangkok to lobby for attention to it.

Organisations in India are evolving a campaign on the issue of collective 
land rights for women in India. We invite you to be a part of this process 
to develop this as a global campaign. Please join us to share your ideas on 
the issue and suggest interventions in favor of the landless women.

The side event  is scheduled for Wednesday, 8th of September, from 12:00 - 
13:15.
The Venue is : Meeting Room F, UNESCAP building, 6th floor block A, United 
Nations Building, Rajdamnern Nok Avenue, Bangkok 10200.

The event at the UNESCAP building is restricted to those who are  pre 
registered for the meeting.
Since not every one finds Beijing+10 as an anchor point or has the 
registration / resources a meeting has been organised on the 7th of 
September from 4pm to 7pm followed by Dinner.

You are cordially invited to this meeting to share your work and join us 
for Dinner.

The purpose of this meeting is to know what related campaigns are taking 
place in different countries. The issue of women's land rights is related 
intrinsically with food sovereignty and livelihood issues of the 
unorganized sector workers. Your experience will inform us on specific 
recommendations that should be sent from NGO's to the ministerial meeting 
on women and land rights. This sharing and planning meeting will 
incorporate ideas to be included in the discussion and lobby document for 
the UN ESACP event the next day. The address of the venue for the meeting
